About

I'm Alexandra Paez-Ferreira, LSW, LMSW, SIFI, a licensed social worker in New Jersey and New York, educator, and external practicum supervisor passionate about preparing the next generation of social workers. My career has been shaped by a commitment to helping students bridge the gap between classroom learning and confident, ethical professional practice. My professional experience spans immigration and legal social work, child welfare, trauma-informed practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration, where I have worked alongside attorneys, healthcare professionals, educators, and community organizations to support children, youth, and families navigating complex systems. These experiences have reinforced my belief that social work is at its strongest when we work collaboratively across disciplines while keeping the dignity and goals of those we serve at the center of our practice. As a SIFI-certified external practicum supervisor with a background in Higher Education Administration, I bring both educational and real-world perspectives to supervision. I view field education as more than a graduation requirement—it's an opportunity to develop professional identity, strengthen critical thinking, and build the confidence needed to become a thoughtful and compassionate practitioner. My supervision style is collaborative, strengths-based, reflective, and grounded in cultural humility.Beyond supervision, I enjoy presenting and facilitating professional development workshops on topics including nontraditional social work careers, interdisciplinary collaboration, trauma-informed practice, burnout prevention, immigration and legal social work, and leadership development.Whether I'm supporting an individual student or partnering with a university, my goal is always the same: to empower future social workers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills they need to create meaningful change in their communities.
